Judaism - Moses and the Burning Bush - Lesson!
In this engaging lesson, students are introduced to the story of Moses and the Burning Bush. They are encouraged to think deeply about the meanings that can be taken from the story, and consider the main ‘turning points’ in their own lives and the lives of others.
The learning is guided by a clear and colourful PowerPoint presentation, which guides students through the following step-by-step journey:
-Knowledge recall - gauging children’s prior knowledge of Judaism - including Jewish persecution in Egypt and Moses’ early life;
-Reading the story of Moses and the Burning Bush - pausing for reflective thought by engaging with the embedded questions;
-Considering the deeper meanings and morals of the story - including Moses’ killing of the Egyptian and his worries about leading the Israelites;
-Considering their own attitudes towards the events and characters in the story;
-Comparing Moses’ turning point with turning points from other religions;
-Thinking of how turning points in their own lives have affected them;
-Completing a plenary to assess their understanding.
This resource pack contains a comprehensive 15-slide Powerpoint and the story/ consideration questions (in both Word and PDF).

Judaism - Moses' Early Life - Lesson!
In this engaging lesson, students are introduced to the story of Moses’ early life. It covers the context of Jewish persecution in Egypt, and the birth, concealment and subsequent finding of baby Moses.
The learning is guided by a clear and colourful PowerPoint presentation, which guides students through the following step-by-step journey:
-Knowledge recall - gauging children’s prior knowledge of Jewish persecution in Egypt;
-Watching a short video (hyperlinked) about Moses early life - before answering comprehension questions to demonstrate understanding;
-Considering how different characters in the story demonstrate positive Christian/ Jewish values in the story;
-Considering their own attitudes towards the events and characters in the story;
-Creating a storyboard to present the main events of the story;
-Completing a plenary to assess their understanding.
This resource pack contains a comprehensive 19-slide Powerpoint, the hyperlink to the short video, and a template for the storyboard activity.

Churches - The Features of Churches!
In this lesson, students learn about the key features of Anglican churches.
Some of the features covered include: the font, the altar, the pulpit, the lecturn, the nave, the crucifix and stained glass windows. Students learn about the key purpose of the features, and where they can be found in the church.
Students also begin to comprehend what the features symbolise.
This resource pack contains a comprehensive 16-slide Powerpoint, alongside an eye-catching worksheet. Two extension activities are provided in order to challenge higher ability learners.

KS1 RE - Special Places - Churches!
In this engaging lesson, students develop their understanding of churches and what happens in them. It was originally taught as a part of an RE unit on ‘Special Places.’
The learning is guided by a clear and colourful PowerPoint presentation, which guides students through the following step-by-step journey:
-Knowledge harvesting what children already know about churches, and what they would like to find out;
-Studying a number of images of different features in churches (provided) and using a template to record their findings;
-Discussing and identifying what events take place in churches, and how these are commemorated;
-Understanding that churches are special places to Christians, and that we should behave respectfully when we are in/ around them;
-Completing a plenary activity to assess their understanding;
-Self-reflecting on the extent to which they feel they have met the learning objective.

In this lesson, students learn about the key symbols found across Christianity, and in particular in churches.
Some of the symbols covered include: the cross/crucifix, alpha/omega, the sign of the holy trinity, and the animal symbols of the disciples. Students learn about what symbols are used for, before discussing the key meanings of the church symbols.
This resource pack contains a comprehensive 15-slide Powerpoint, alongside all of the resources needed for the group ‘symbol detectives’ activity (for this task, I put the symbols and clues around the room, and have groups do a circuit of them. A creative extension activity is also provided in order to challenge higher ability learners.

In this lesson, students learn about the a number of the main types of Christianity, including Protestant (Anglican), Roman Catholic and Orthodox denominations.
Children learn about why there are different kinds of Christianity, before exploring the features of each faith and the respective churches.

Churches - Big Quiz and Extended Activity!
In this lesson, students demonstrate their understanding of churches and what happens in them.
Children participate in a 15 question quiz (with answers provided) to showcase their understanding of:
-The features of churches;
-Symbols found in churches;
-Different denominations of Christianity and how their churches differ.
Children then produce a non-chronological report detailing all that they have learnt about churches. The resource pack contains a comprehensive 23-slide Powerpoint, alongside all of the planning resources needed for the report.

The Final Days of Jesus' Life - Whole Class Reading Session!
This whole class reading session aims to develop children’s fluency and comprehension skills through reading about the final days of Jesus’ life. The non-fiction text that they read is adapted from a BBC Bitesize article about Jesus’ last days.
The reading is followed by a series of activities aiming to develop children’s VIPERS skills: vocabulary, inference, prediction, explanation, retrieval, sequencing and summarising. It also contains a vocabulary check immediately after the extract is read to clarify any unfamiliar/ difficult language.
The tasks are comprised of quick-check questions, solo thinking, pair/ group discussions and deeper thinking activities. The text to read is provided in both PDF and Word format.
The session is best suited for children in upper KS2, however it could easily be used with KS3 students and could feasibly be utilised with slightly younger children, depending upon the individual context of your class.

This detailed and visually-appealing resource offers a complete reference point for students learning about/ revising their understanding of Hanukkah. It contains comprehensive sections under the following headings:

Collective Worship - Big Bundle!
These fun and original collective worships sessions aim to aid children in developing their understanding of Christian themes.
The bundle contains collective worship sessions on compassion, honesty, endurance, humility and celebrating differences.
All of the sessions have been tried and tested, and have always been really well received in the past.
The slides are visually engaging and well-presented, and the subject matter is tailored to the interests and needs of young people. For example, there are references to scenarios and dilemmas that they themselves might find themselves in, in order to help them to make the right choices in their own lives. Each session also links to an apt bible story, each of which has been modified to suit a younger audience.
There are also fun role-play activities, beautiful, thought-provoking videos exemplifying each theme, and various discussion activities regarding how to show the skills in different areas of their own lives. No further resources are required, everything that you need to present the sessions is included.
